Gotta love the psychology behind one city’s name for recycling drop-off spots—they’re called Convenience Centers. Around schools, libraries, community centers and supermarkets in Charleston, SC, are drop-off places for accepted recyclables that include electronics, corrrugated cardboard, motor oil and oil filters.
They also recycle and sell extra latex paint for $4 per five-gallon bucket. At 8 municipal locations, residents can bring in their leftover paint that will be hand-sorted and organized by color. The paint will then be poured into a giant mixer at the Bees Ferry location to reblend it into new colors. To assist you in color selection, you can browse the paint book for available colors, and a site attendant will help you pick out your color and organize your paint buckets. The original paint cans are recycled separately.
Paint manufacturers may be required to operate take-back programs in many states by 2010. The Illinois EPA estimates that 25% of the the waste collected during its one-day Household Hazardous Waste Collections is paint. Its website lists a few places around the state where you can recycled latex paint year round.

I love the paint recycling/reblending idea.
